Bugs Galore, written by Peter Stein and illustrated by Bob Staake

Peter Stein and Bob Staake, the team who brought us the best thing since Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things That Go, Cars Galore, are back with Bugs Galore! Once again, Stein's lyrical rhymes create a canvas for Staake to splash his fantastic illustrations on. Colorful, retro and kinda kooky, Staake's artwork is non-stop busy and crawling with bugs, as it should be. Stein's manages to describe almost all the bugs a kid can think of including "crawl-on-POO-bugs" and the kind that get stuck under your shoe. While Staake's bugs begin with those found in nature, he quickly zooms off into the fantastical and it becomes more fun to seek out the imaginary bugs (including a donut eating bug, a nod to Staake's excellent picture book that he wrote as well as illustrated, The Donut Chef.) Just like Stein and Staake's first book, Bugs Galore is guaranteed to be a hit with the four and under crowd. And, my guess is the grown-up crowd will get a kick out of it as well!

Don't miss Bob Staake's superb book for little ones not quite ready for Where's Waldo, Look! A Book! A Zany Seek-and-Find Adventure. Happily, the sequel, Look! Another Book! A Crazy Seek-and-Find Extravaganza comes out this year! For those of you who want to know what goes on in the mind of this genius, don't miss this great interview over at the best kid's book illustration blog out there, Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast.
