Creston Books - A new publishing venture from author and illustrator Marissa Moss and Friends

Marissa Moss, diverse author and illustrator, (Amelia's Notebook, Daphne's Diary, and the fantastic Nurse, Soldier, Spy a non-fiction picture book about a woman who served (as a man) in the Civil War and soon to be a middle-grade book from Moss as well!!) is starting her own publishing house with a Kickstarter campaign and they need to raise about $7,000 by April 19!!!

Besides the fact that I love everything that Marissa Moss does, as a longtime bookseller who has seen changes in the industries of book publishing and selling, I am so excited by the ethos that motivates Moss and her partners in their endeavor, which will be called Creston Books. Moss cites Candlewick Press, Abrams/Amulet Books and Chronicle Books as influences that she would like to draw inspiration from when acquiring titles for Creston Books to publish. These are three publishers that I think very highly of - every book they put out is beautifully designed, well written, innovative and/or unique and worth every penny. There is definitely room for another publishing house of this ilk!

I don't have time to share all the details here, but this fantastic article ran in Publishers Weekly and is brief but chock full of great information about what Moss wants to do with Creston Books and the Bay Area connections and influences that she brings to this new venture.
