Happy New Year!!

Hope you all have a very happy new year that is full of marvelous books for you and your children!  On Monday I will post my annual list of the Best Picture Books of the year and then take a mini-vacation.  I am very excited to get started on my reading as second round judge for the CYBILS awards this year, to be announced on February 14, 2011.  The first round judges had the incredible job of winnowing down a list of 150 books in the Science Fiction & Fantasy/middle grade/elementary category to a mere 6 or 7!  I am lucky enough to be on the second round panel of judges who will pick just one of these as the winner....  I will be buried under the pages for the next 5 weeks or so, but I have a few goodies saved up for my blog, and, as always, the I'll post on the winners of the Caldecott and Newbery Awards and Honors the minute they are announced. This year, the ALA Midwinter Meeting is being held in my hometown, San Diego, from January 7 - 11!!  Although I'm not a librarian, maybe I can sneak in...  For some interesting predictions, check out Betsy Bird's picks.  However, as the days pass and my deadline looms, you may see a few re-posts.  Thanks for bearing with me and, as always, thanks for reading!
