Summer @ books4yourkids.com

Last year right around this time I inherited a new bookshelf which prompted some excited reorganizing as well as a goal for myself and my blog. With the post A Goal for books4yourkids.com, I gave myself the challenge to read all of the books on my shelves that are more than a year old. Working at a bookstore and having a book review blog, I am like a kid in a candy shop when it comes to new books. The fact is there is not even enough time in my day to read all the great new books that cross my path, let alone the older books that I have been amassing because they are fantastic and I want my readers to know about them. Thus, what I think will be my new summertime routine - working my way through these books in the summer before I plunge into new fall releases in September.
Above is a picture of my new bookshelf (the small one on the left) that now holds all the old books I want to read. I have a third, smaller bookshelf for new books, not in the picture. Below is a sneak peek at my TBR pile this summer, which is infinitely more reasonable than the one from last year. If there's time, I even plan to treat myself to the sequels to The Seven Sorcerers, Kat, Incorrigible, The Search for WondLa and the final book in the Sisters Grimm series. Look forward to some great historical fiction and a special week dedicated to graphic novels! Also, on Wednesdays I will be reposting reviews from 2008/09 of older books that are worthy of extra attention.

I just love this poem by the amazing Arnold Lobel, so I'm going to share it again...

Books to the ceiling,
Books to the sky,
My pile of books is a mile high!
How I love them! How I need them!
I'll have a long beard
by the time I read them.
