SQUIRREL WEEK - COMING TO A BLOG NEAR YOU!!!

RODENTS OF THE WORLD UNITE!

If you have been reading along for a while now, you may have noticed that I love it when things connect. I love finding similar themes in books and I especially love it when I can focus a whole week of reviews on this theme.

So, here it is!  Squirrel Week!    I have actually found (and read) 5 books with squirrels as the main characters.  Ok, that's not entirely true.  The one book out of this bunch that I was drooling to read, that kind of started me looking more closely at the rodents populating the pages of kid's literature, turned out to be a chipmunk and not a squirrel.  But, he makes the cut anyway.  Do you know which one of these cute furry guys is, if any, a chipmunk???

Be prepared, then, for books ranging in reading levels from 2 - 5 as well as my second graphic novel ever read!!!

Best picture book with a squirrel as the main character:
MERLE THE HIGH FLYING SQUIRREL
by the amazing BILL PEET!!

Merle the High Flying Squirrel by Bill Peet: Book Cover

Tired of his tough life in the city, Merle takes of for greener pastures after hearing an old codger describe the giant Redwoods of Northern California.
