World Rat Day: Poems About Real Holidays You've Never Heard Of by J Patrick Lewis, illustrated by Anna Raff

World Rat Day: Poems About Real Holidays You've Never Heard Of by J Patrick Lewis, Children's Poet Laureate, illustrated by Anna Raff really IS a book of poems about REAL holidays you've never heard of! I discovered this when I was preparing to write this review. There is even a website promoting World Rat Day, which falls on April 4th. Lewis and Raff have collected 22 chronologically ordered poems celebrating everything from skunks to worms to limericks to Chocolate-Covered Anything Day. Lewis's poems use world play and snappy rhymes that are perfectly paired with Raff's watercolors that range from silly to sweet. I don't want to give away too much of the book, so I'll share a poem in this review and a couple more over the next few weeks in celebration of National Poetry Month! Be sure to check out the great book trailer at the end of this review.
