What this Story Needs is a Hush and a Shush! by Emma Virjan

With Mo Willems's Elephant & Piggie series coming to an end this year, I am grateful to find other high interest easy readers hitting the shelves. Last year, Emma Virjan debuted the fantastic What this Story Needs is a Pig in a Wig, which has just the right amount of silliness and rhyme and nice touches like endpapers that change with each new book. This year, we are treated to two more books in this series, the second of which is What this Story Needs is a Hush and a Shush!

It's bedtime and pig has her bunny slippers (which provide the endpapers for What this Story Needs is a Hush and a Shush) and is brushing her teeth and combing her hair. But, just as she snuggles in bed with her teddy bear, her friends on the farm have different ideas. There are clucks, honks and ribbits, hisses, peeps and moos. In her own rhyming way, Pig sends them back to the barn and settles down again. But, a hooting owl right outside her window sends her, and her pink teddy, looking for a quiet, cozy place to sleep.
